Dr. Fischman is a Materials Scientist/engineer who specializes in ceramics and coatings. He currently consults through Future Strategy Solutions llc. Previously he was - Director of 3 boards at the National Academies (The National Materials Advisory Board, the Board on Manufacturing and Engineering Design, the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment), Professor and Director of Biomaterials and Technology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, an expert in materials at the US Food and Drug Administration and a tenured faculty member at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He has been actively involved in three start-ups that were involved in developing ceramic or coating components for medical devices.
