CHARLES SIDEBOTTOM is the Managing Partner of PPO Standards LLC. based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prior to forming PPO Standards, Mr. Sidebottom was Director of Corporate Standards at Medtronic. He received degrees in electrical engineering from Iowa State University the University of Missouri. He is a Medtronic Technical Fellow, a Fellow of ASTM International, a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), a Subject Matter Expert on standardization for the World Medical Device Organization (WMDO) and a registered professional engineer.
Heavily involved in standardization since 1987, Mr. Sidebottom served as Secretary of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Subcommittee (SC) 62A, Common aspects of electrical equipment used in medical practice and Secretary of the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 150/SC 5, Osteosynthesis and spinal devices. He currently serves as the convener of ISO/TC 150 Working Group 7, Fundamental standards. He has served in various leadership roles in ASTM International Committee F04, Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, including Recording Secretary, Membership Secretary, and Producer Vice-Chair. He is currently a Member at Large of the ASTM/F04 Executive Subcommittee. He has served on the Board of Directors of ASTM International and as Chair of the Board of Directors of the AAMI.
